The Great Wall of China is a collection of walls and fortifications
built over nearly two millennia to defend China's northern
borders from nomadic groups. It is the longest man-made
structure ever built, stretching over 13,000 miles and
incorporating various materials like packed earth, wood, and
brick. Construction began as early as the 7th century BC, with
the Qin Dynasty joining earlier walls in the 3rd century BC.
UNESCO World Heritage site.
There isn't an Olympic National Stadium outside of China
called the "Bird's Nest"; the structure known as the "Bird's
Nest" is the Beijing National Stadium, located in Beijing, China.
Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, it served as the main stadium
for the 2008 Summer Olympics and is famous for its
interwoven steel structure that resembles a bird's nest.
The Water Cube (Outside)
There is no widely known "Water Cube" structure outside
of China, as the term most famously refers to the National
Aquatics Center (also known as the Water Cube) in Beijing,
a unique, bubble-like building made of illuminated ETFE
panels that hosted swimming events during the 2008
Summer Olympics. While its design is inspiring, there isn't
another prominent structure named "the Water Cube"
outside of China.
